About Us

Welcome

A little about ourselves

Midwest Roping Association
Welcome to the Website for The Midwest Roping Association. The Association was organized in 1990, and has promoted team roping in North Western Saskatchewan since its inception.  The Midwest District stretches from Meadow Lake to Saskatoon-Biggar and from Prince Albert to Lloydminster and on into Eastern Alberta. Our goals are to promote community spirit, recreation and social interaction.  We encourage family units, business men and women, young people and other interested parties to engage in team roping for business or pleasure. We try to involve the youth division as much as we can.  The youth division ranges from the ages of 3 to 18.  Youth that are beginning can start by ground roping the dummy head and then advance to the #2 novice category.  A low membership of $30.00 is required for youth to rope.  Each year we have an average of 25 youth members. We present year-end prizes each year.  Each category (#11 Equalizer, #8 with #2 Incentive) receive the same year end prizes no matter on age of member. We even have buckles donated for the 1st place dummy ropers.  The top three youth overall will receive prizes.  For the Advanced ropers we add a rope off, that can earn a large amount of cash and we are also hoping to have 5 donated saddles for this year.We feel it is important for the youth to be able see as they advance, they will have the honour of trying to achieve goals in the future of being in the rope off as other family members currently are.  We also already have had youth members compete in these categories!! We always welcome guests to come out and participate.  Our present categories range from beginner to semi-pro. As members we enjoy new ropers coming out we are always glad to have you!!!!
